President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Uganda’s newly appointed ministers at State House, Entebbe, officially ushering in the country’s new Cabinet for the 2026–2031 term.

The ministers took the oath of office today following their recent appointment by the President and subsequent vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee. The new Cabinet comprises Cabinet ministers and Ministers of State tasked with implementing the government’s development agenda over the next five years.

Speaking during the ceremony, President Museveni called upon the ministers to serve with integrity, patriotism and dedication, emphasising the need for efficient service delivery and accountability in public office. The swearing-in marks the formal commencement of duties for the new government team.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, Members of Parliament, diplomats, security leaders and family members of the newly sworn-in ministers. The event reflected the beginning of a new phase of governance as the administration focuses on economic transformation, wealth creation, industrialisation and job creation.

However, four ministerial nominees did not take the oath of office. Ambassador Adonia Ayebare, Shartsi Musherure, Calvin Echodu and Dr Lawrence Muganga were absent from the ceremony due to unresolved questions regarding their citizenship status. Government officials indicated that legal reviews are ongoing before a final decision is made on their appointments.

The swearing-in follows President Museveni’s announcement of the new Cabinet on 26 May 2026. The ministers are expected to immediately assume their responsibilities and begin implementing government programmes aimed at improving service delivery and accelerating national development.

The new Cabinet is expected to play a central role in advancing Uganda’s socio-economic transformation agenda during the 2026–2031 term, with a focus on increasing household incomes, expanding infrastructure, strengthening public services and attracting investment.
