Uganda is hosting a high-level delegation of Chinese investors and industry representatives as part of the Uganda–China Coffee Investment and Destination Tour, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening trade, investment, and market linkages between the two countries.

According to an official statement, the tour is scheduled to run from 10 to 23 April 2026 and has been organised by Uganda’s Embassy in Beijing in collaboration with its Consulate in Guangzhou. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to promote Uganda as a competitive destination for foreign direct investment and tourism, particularly within the Chinese market.

The delegation comprises representatives from several leading Chinese companies, including Shandong Huajian Aluminum Group, Beijing Liujian Group Co., Ltd., Wuxi Jiangnan Cable Co., Ltd., Hainan Zhongyu International Cooperation Co., Ltd., Africa Cultural & Tourism Center, Beijing 7Sea Holidays International Travel Service Co., Ltd., Beijing Jubangbang Agriculture Co., Ltd., and Silk Road Global International Exhibition (Chengdu) Co., Ltd., among others. Their participation reflects growing private sector interest in Uganda’s emerging economic opportunities.

During their stay, the delegation is expected to undertake a comprehensive investment and familiarisation tour across key economic and tourism sites in Uganda. Planned industrial visits include the Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park, Liao Shen Industrial Park, and Namanve Industrial Park. These engagements will provide insights into opportunities in industrialisation, manufacturing, and infrastructure development, as Uganda continues to expand its industrial base.

Agriculture, particularly coffee production, forms a central component of the programme. The delegation will engage with the Ankole Coffee Producers Cooperative Union and visit a coffee-processing facility in Bushenyi District. These visits are intended to showcase Uganda’s coffee value chain, from production to processing and export, while highlighting the country’s potential as a reliable supplier in the global coffee market.

In addition to investment activities, the delegation will explore Uganda’s tourism attractions. Scheduled visits include Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Rwenzori Mountains National Park, and the Source of the Nile. These excursions are designed to promote Uganda as a premier tourism destination and to attract increased interest from Chinese travellers. The initiative underscores Uganda’s commitment to positioning itself as an attractive destination for trade, investment, and tourism. It also reflects the strengthening bilateral relations between Uganda and China, particularly in the areas of agro-industrialisation, tourism development, mineral-based industrialisation, and science, technology, and innovation.
