The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has officially launched its annual Customer Engagement Week in Jinja City, an outreach initiative running from Tuesday, 9 December to Friday, 12 December 2025. The programme reflects URSB’s ongoing commitment to bringing essential registration services closer to communities while promoting a culture of business formalisation across the country.

The week-long engagement seeks to strengthen relationships between URSB and local stakeholders, including business owners, community leaders, financial institutions and other actors within the business ecosystem. By taking services directly to the people, URSB aims to address barriers to registration, improve service delivery and foster greater understanding of the benefits of formalising enterprises.

Throughout the engagement period, URSB teams will conduct a series of community visits and stakeholder meetings in Jinja City and the surrounding areas. The sessions are designed to provide targeted support, gather feedback from clients and establish collaborative solutions for strengthening the local business environment. Officials say these interactions will help the Bureau better understand the experiences and concerns of entrepreneurs and tailor future services accordingly.

A major highlight of the week is the provision of on-spot business registration services. Entrepreneurs will be able to register business names, companies, partnerships and intellectual property directly at the engagement centres. They will also be able to update company records instantly, ensuring that registered entities remain compliant and up to date.

URSB will demonstrate key digital tools, including the Online Business Registration System (OBRS) and the Security Interest in Movable Property Registration System (SIMPO). The demonstrations aim to familiarise clients with user-friendly online platforms that simplify the registration process, reduce paperwork and make services more accessible to both individuals and institutions.

In addition to service delivery, the Bureau will host several sensitisation meetings with the business community. These sessions will emphasise the importance of business formalisation, the need to comply with regulatory requirements and the value of protecting business identities through proper registration. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions, share insights and learn more about their obligations and rights within the formal economy.

To further encourage participation, URSB has introduced a “Register and Win” promotion. Entrepreneurs who complete registrations during the Customer Engagement Week will be entered into a draw to win branded items and practical business materials. The promotion is intended to motivate more business owners to take formal steps that enhance credibility, access to finance and long-term sustainability.

URSB staff will also distribute informative printed materials covering the full range of services offered by the Bureau. These include business registration, intellectual property protection, copyright registration, insolvency services and security interest registration. The materials aim to simplify the processes involved and guide clients through the requirements for each service.

The main walk-in support centre for the week is located at Tropical Bank’s Jinja Branch on Main Street, where clients can receive direct assistance, make inquiries and participate in live demonstrations of registration processes.

URSB officials say the Customer Engagement Week in Jinja City demonstrates the Bureau’s renewed focus on customer-centred service delivery. By taking services closer to the people, URSB continues to support enterprise growth, stimulate economic development and promote a vibrant and inclusive formal sector in Uganda.
