30th July 2024 the Honourable Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Jacob Marksons Oboth-Oboth, has today charged the newly constituted Board of Directors of the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) to prioritize the Corporation’s prosperity, growth, and long-term sustainability, while remaining steadfast in their commitment to their statutory responsibilities.
“I expect total accountability, as it fosters acceptance and respectability among investors for the Enterprise.  Both business prosperity and accountability are paramount in every Corporation’s strategic thinking, planning, and activities, “said Hon Oboth-Oboth
Minister Oboth-Oboth made these remarks at the inauguration of the new Board of Directors, held at the NEC Headquarters in Bugolobi, Kampala.
 The Minister tasked the Board to guide the Corporation towards realizing its purpose in support of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces'( UPDF) goals, through engaging in activities that contribute to Uganda’s development, as mandated by the Constitution.
NEC is the commercial arm of the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs/Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces for production of goods and services that are beneficial to the Defence Forces and the general public through its Subsidiaries and Joint ventures.

Gen (Rtd) Joram Mugume, the new Board Chairman, commended the outgoing Board for their hard work and commitment, which significantly improved NEC’s performance and led to notable achievements.
Lt Gen James Mugira, the Managing Director of NEC, expressed his optimism that the
Corporation will greatly benefit from the diverse expertise of its new Board members.
“The management looks forward to working closely with the board to take NEC to greater heights,” said Lt Gen Mugira.
The newly inaugurated Board includes:  Gen (Rtd) Joram Mugume (Chairman), Prof. Charles Kwesiga, Lt Gen Charles Otema Awany, Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga, Lt Gen Charles Okidi, Lt Gen James Mugira, Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba, Maj Gen David Mugisha, Mr. Francis Kahirita Ngabirano, Eng. Isaac Musasizi, Dr. Anna Rose Ademun Okurut, Dr. Joshua Mutambi and Mr. Hannington Ashaba.
