President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the First Lady, also Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni, have shared news of a special event for teachers on their official social media pages. The President posted on his X account, @KagutaMuseveni, while Maama Janet shared on @JanetMuseveni.

The ceremony was held at Ntare School in Mbarara, where the President is an alumnus. A total of 1,372 secondary school teachers from Greater Mbarara and Ntungamo districts graduated after completing a special training course on patriotic ideology.

President Museveni emphasised that the program, which he initiated in 2009, is crucial for national development. He explained that the training provides clarity on “what it takes to build a good life and a prosperous society.” He commended Ms. Hellen Seku for organising the event and applauded the teachers for their commitment, describing their parade as “magnificent.”

The President also assured teachers of the government’s commitment to their welfare. He announced that SACCO funds for private school teachers and arts teachers will be disbursed soon, clarifying that this is a one-time provision for now, though future support is also being considered.

On her part, Maama Janet congratulated the teachers on completing what she described as “life-impacting training.” She expressed confidence that the Patriotism Ideology Training will not only transform schools across Uganda but also positively impact the individual teachers who participated.

She further thanked the President for joining the teachers, referring to them as “frontline soldiers in our Education Service delivery army.” She noted that his presence and wisdom continue to inspire and demonstrate his strong commitment to teacher development and national values.

This event reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen education while instilling patriotism and civic responsibility amongst citizens through the dedicated work of teachers.
