The officers were drawn from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence, School of Defence and Intelligence and their goal is to deepen the officers&#8217; understanding of civil legal processes and procedures.<\/p><p><\/p><p><\/p><p>Col James Muhumuza, the Principal\/Commandant of the School, who led the officers, said they chose the Civil Division because they want to understand human rights, gain insight into general court procedures, and understand their role in upholding the rule of law. The participants include officers at the ranks of Lieutenant Colonel, Major, and Second Lieutenant. Justice Musa Ssekaana, the Head of the Civil Division, who welcomed the officers, shared insights into the Division&#8217;s history and its pivotal role within the Judiciary system.<\/p><p><\/p><p><\/p><p><\/p><p>He encouraged the officers to seize the opportunity of the study tour, to learn how civil matters are handled. Deputy Registrar Civil Division, HW Faisal Mulalira, briefed the officers on the Court&#8217;s duties, court hierarchy, parties involved in cases, and case commencement. He highlighted the UPDF&#8217;s constitutional role in protecting Uganda&#8217;s interests at home and abroad, providing a safe and secure environment in which all Ugandan citizens can live and prosper. And to also foster harmony and understanding between the defence forces and civilians. HW Mulalira said the engagement offered an opportunity for the officers to get accurate information. He urged officers to remain impartial and transcend personal biases, as their information could significantly impact court outcomes.The officers have been divided into two groups, with each group accommodating 75 officers.
