These rules are meant to keep Kampala clean, protect public property, and ensure order during the 2026 election campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KCCA has warned against displaying posters in green spaces, on walls, or in newly beautified areas of the city. The Executive Director of KCCA,&nbsp;Ms. Sharifah Buzeki said the guidelines are meant to stop the mess and littering that happened in past elections. She stressed that these rules apply to&nbsp;all political parties, and no one will be treated differently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms. Buzeki explained,&nbsp;&#8220;We have issued guidelines on how to place campaign posters, and we advise everyone to follow them. We will meet with all party leaders on August 7 to explain these rules. We need cooperation to keep Kampala clean.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This move is intended to protect parks, trees, and newly improved public areas. &#8220;Some places are naturally sensitive, and we must regulate posters to avoid turning the city into a dumping site. Posters that are not placed correctly will peel off and become litter. &#8220;Glueing posters on walls is also not allowed,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some people have accused KCCA of only removing posters belonging to opposition parties. However, Ms. Buzeki denied this, saying,&nbsp;&#8220;A campaign poster is the same no matter the party or colour. We ask all party leaders to teach their candidates to follow the rules. If you don\u2019t comply, don\u2019t say we are targeting you.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She made it clear that posters placed in the&nbsp;right areas&nbsp;will not be removed, but those in the wrong places&nbsp;will be taken down, regardless of which party they belong to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For many years, Kampala residents have complained about campaign posters blocking drainage systems, covering traffic signs, and making public spaces look dirty.
