This important milestone allows the CMP to commence its activities in accordance with the Political Parties and Organisations Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The notice, written by Justice Simon Byabakama, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission was published in the Uganda Gazette dated 25th July 2025 , follows the successful completion of all legal requirements set out by the commission. With this, CMP is now fully recognized as a political organization entitled to operate, mobilize, and participate in Uganda\u2019s democratic processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Common Man\u2019s Party, formally known as the Uganda Economic Party is led by Hon. Mubarak Munyagwa, a former Member of Parliament and now the president of the party. CMP becomes one of the latest political entities to be registered ahead of the upcoming 2026 general elections, reflecting the vibrancy of Uganda\u2019s multiparty political system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Electoral Commission congratulated The Common Man\u2019s Party on achieving this milestone and reminds all political parties, both old and new, to uphold the principles of democracy, transparency, and lawful conduct in their activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Commission further encourages Ugandans to stay engaged and informed as the country moves toward the 2026 elections.
