In a significant step toward strengthening sports governance in Uganda, the National Council of Sports (NCS) has officially gazetted 45 national sports federations and associations as part of the registration process as stipulated in the National Sports Act, Cap. 151 and Regulation 7(1)(a) of the National Sports Regulations, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The list, published under General Notice No. 1754 of 2025<\/em> in The Uganda Gazette<\/em>, confirms that these federations have applied for formal registration and are under consideration for official recognition through Certificates of Registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the federations gazetted include major organizations such as the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), Uganda Athletics Federation, Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations, Uganda Rugby Union, Netball Uganda, Uganda Boxing Federation, Uganda Golf Union, Cricket Uganda, Uganda Volleyball Federation, and the Uganda Paralympic Committee among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    According to the extra ordinary gazette notice by NCS General Secretary Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel, the gazetting triggers a 30-day window from the date of the gazette(June 23, 2025)  during which any member of the public with grounds to oppose any of the listed federations can submit a written objection to the NCS General secretary . This provision is intended to promote transparency and accountability in the recognition process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The move is expected to improve access to funding, enhance Uganda\u2019s participation in international competitions, and promote better management practices within sports federations\u2014especially as the country prepares for a busy calendar of local and global sporting events.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
