As one of the key stadia Uganda will use to co-host the tournament alongside Kenya and Tanzania, the facility is intended to meet international standards and help ensure that the tournament runs smoothly. Hosting such a high-profile event is meant to not only boost national pride but also position Uganda as a competitive sports destination on the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The stadium is being designed as a multi-purpose venue\u2014not only for high-level football matches but also for athletics and other sporting events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main arena is planned to seat approximately 20,000 spectators. In addition to the football pitch, the project includes a 2,000-seat indoor multi-sports arena, a training pitch, a semi-Olympic-sized swimming pool, and outdoor courts for basketball, netball, and volleyball. There will also be a parking facility with a capacity for more than 1,000 vehicles, ensuring that the venue can support major events with significant spectator numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"756\" height=\"1008\" src=\"https:\/\/govinfohub.go.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_4365-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3297\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/govinfohub.go.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_4365-1.jpeg 756w, https:\/\/govinfohub.go.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_4365-1-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 756px) 100vw, 756px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>During a recent site inspection, officials from the National Council of Sports (NCS) expressed strong approval of the progress. Assistant General Secretary for Administration Joseph Oluga and Engineering Officer Nicholas Zirimenya, along with consultants from the Ministry of Works and Transport, commended SUMMA\u2019s efficiency and adherence to high construction standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are impressed by the tremendous progress made in such a short time,\u201d Oluga noted, highlighting the project as a key element in Uganda\u2019s broader strategy to elevate its sports infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The stadium is not just a venue for sporting events\u2014it is a cornerstone of Uganda\u2019s preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
