{"id":2005,"date":"2024-09-04T08:44:44","date_gmt":"2024-09-04T08:44:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/govinfohub.go.ug\/?p=2005"},"modified":"2024-09-05T08:47:54","modified_gmt":"2024-09-05T08:47:54","slug":"kabwoya-buhuka-road-upgrade-commences-set-to-boost-oil-production-and-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/govinfohub.go.ug\/index.php\/2024\/09\/04\/kabwoya-buhuka-road-upgrade-commences-set-to-boost-oil-production-and-economy\/","title":{"rendered":"KABWOYA-BUHUKA ROAD UPGRADE COMMENCES, SET TO BOOST OIL PRODUCTION AND ECONOMY"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has commenced civil works on the Kabwoya-Buhuka road, a critical oil road, in preparation for oil production in the Bunyoro sub-region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 43km asphalt surface road will connect the Kingfisher oil area at Kyangwali and is also expected to boost tourism and agriculture in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project, funded by the Government of Uganda under a pre-financing arrangement, is being implemented as a Design and Build project by China Railway Seventh Group Co. Ltd (CRSG). The scope of works includes upgrading the existing gravel road to bitumen standard, with a design life of 20 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UNRA\u2019s Project Manager, Eng. Titus Aleper, on 29<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;July 2024 led a stakeholder engagement with the Kikuube district leadership, introducing the contractor and outlining the project\u2019s objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kikuube District Chairperson, Hon. Peter Banura, thanked UNRA for the project and promised support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The leaders urged the contractor to prioritise local content and carry out forward maintenance works in the Bugoma forest area ahead of the major construction works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eng. Wang Qang, the CRSG Project Manager assured the leaders of quality work on the project. The contractor is currently on site establishing a camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The engagement involved an inspection of the project alignment, and a radio talk show to further engage with stakeholders on the planned construction works and compensation among others.
