{"id":1467,"date":"2024-07-15T14:38:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-15T14:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/govinfohub.go.ug\/?p=1467"},"modified":"2024-07-16T18:56:28","modified_gmt":"2024-07-16T18:56:28","slug":"acca-head-pays-courtesy-visit-to-ura","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/govinfohub.go.ug\/index.php\/2024\/07\/15\/acca-head-pays-courtesy-visit-to-ura\/","title":{"rendered":"ACCA head pays courtesy visit to URA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Director of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in Africa Jamir Ampomah met with officials from the Uganda Revenue Authority on Tuesday to discuss areas of mutual interest and build working relations.<br>The discussion centered on capacity building and exploring potential partnerships between the two institutions.<br>Irene Mbabazi, Assistant Commissioner of Learning and Development, asked ACCA for assistance in enhancing staff capacity in data analytics and simplifying tax laws for the informal sector to encourage tax compliance.<br>\u201cWe are looking into ways to enhance staff skills in data analytics and ensure the exchange of information, given that we are operating in a digital economy,\u201d she said.<br>Denis K. Kugonza, the Commissioner of Tax Investigations, who represented the Commissioner General, commended the institution for housing qualified individuals, stating that ACCA professionals are held in high regard because of the quality of their output.<br>\u201cURA has 146 staff who are ACCA qualified, with 7 in senior management positions. This brings a lot of respect to the profession because of its strong ethics and integrity.
