Its functions include, inter alia, initiating processes for curricula research, review and\/or reform, updating, testing and coordinating the implementation of educational curricula at all levels of learning (Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary) as well as promulgation of guidance for the implementation of improved educational curricula and pedagogy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The overall goal is to build a firm foundation for a Centre of excellence in curriculum and instructional materials development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vision<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A center for excellence in curriculum development that is intentionally recognised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mission<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To develop quality, equitable curricula, and instructional materials to meet societal needs through research, innovation, and stakeholder involvement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Core values<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>T \u2013 Teamwork<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>R \u2013 Respect<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I \u2013 Integrity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>E \u2013 Equity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>E \u2013 Excellence<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strategic areas of focus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Aligning A\u2019 Level Curriculum with Revised O\u2019 Level Curriculum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research, Consultancy and Innovation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Revival of the literature Bureau<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improving profitability of STEP (Science, Technology and Equipment Production) Department<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reviewing the Learning Framework for Early Childhood Care and Education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reviewing the Primary Curriculum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stakeholder and Community engagement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting the formation of Language Boards with focus on minority ethnic communities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organizational and institutional development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Integration of ICT and Remote Learning in teaching and learning methodologies in curriculum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instructional materials development, publishing and information sharing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regulation of Alternative Curricula and quality of instructional materials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthening curriculum interpretation and implementation support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Functions of the NCDC<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To investigate and evaluate the need for syllabus revision and curriculum reform at Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary levels of education in Preschool education and in teacher education. To initiate new syllabuses, revise existing ones, carry out curriculum reform, research, testing, and evaluation, and bring up-to-date and improved syllabuses for school and college courses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To draft teaching schemes, textbooks, Teachers\u2019 Manuals, and examination syllabuses in cooperation with teaching institutions and examining bodies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To design and develop teaching aids and instructional materials. We devise, test, and evaluate examination questions and methods of examining students with other appropriate teaching and examining bodies and disseminate the teaching aids and materials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To organize and conduct in-service courses of instruction for the acquisition of knowledge and professional skill by persons intending or required to teach new courses developed at the Centre.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To organize and conduct courses in the objectives and methods of curriculum development work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To hold seminars and conferences on curriculum development projects and problems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To collect, compile, analyze and extract statistical information on curriculum and matters related to curriculum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To publish information, bulletins, digests, periodicals, or other written material concerning curriculum and other matters related to the curriculum;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To disseminate and promote general and better knowledge and understanding of new curriculums, teaching methods, and teaching aids.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To cause to be approved by publishers, curriculum-related materials for use by schools and colleges and to evaluate those materials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To vet and approve any international or other curriculum that is not developed by the Centre, to be used by a tertiary institution or school in Uganda, before the registration or licensing by the relevant authority of the tertiary institution or school that intends to use that curriculum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Services<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Science Technology Equipment Production<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Material Evaluation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Printing and Publication<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Education Consultancy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Controls, guides and implements the Centre\u2019s research and consultancy programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinates the initiation, planning and development of a research and consultancy strategy for the organization that contributes to the overall development of the Centre\u2019s strategic plan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinates research and consultancy projects and monitor contract performance to ensure that they deliver timely and cost-effective results that enhance the effectiveness of the Centre\u2019s service delivery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit Curriculum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Workshops and Training<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Workshops and training are two types of learning experiences designed by NCDC to help individuals develop new skills, improve existing ones, or gain knowledge in a particular area of the curriculum development process.
