Governance and Structure
Posta Uganda operates as a government-owned entity, with shares primarily held by the Ministry of Finance. Despite undergoing numerous transformations, it remains a public institution, not privatized. The organization is mandated to regulate postal services in alignment with national policies, ensuring economic viability while fulfilling its public service role.

Easy Mail Service
Easy Mail is a subscription-based service that provides unlimited mail delivery for the duration of the subscription, typically one year. Clients receive all their mail without incurring additional charges during the subscription period.
EMS – Your Reliable Express Mail Service
EMS (Express Mail Service) is an international postal service for sending documents and merchandise, connecting over 180 countries and territories. As a priority service, EMS guarantees faster delivery compared to standard postal services and provides extensive last-mile coverage through Post Office counters worldwide. EMS Features: – Pre-paid and post-paid contract options. – Same-day delivery within Kampala and 48-hour delivery across Uganda. – Track and Trace for international deliveries and proof of delivery for domestic mail. – Free pick-up for business customers and automatic insurance for all EMS items. EMS Service Packages: – Contractual Service Package: Designed for bulk mail customers, includes a monthly billing agreement, special rates, and free pick-up. – The ‘M’-Bag Service Package: Provides secure, locked bags for bulk mail deliveries. – On-Demand Service Package: Available without a contract; simply pay and send your items from any EMS office.
EMS Boxes for Secure Mailing
EMS Boxes offer secure packaging for mail items, protecting them from damage during transit. These boxes come with a secure seal and are available for both EMS and standard Posta Uganda services.
Enquiry Fees for Postal Address Information
Posta Uganda allows authorized state agencies and other entities to search for postal address details. This service enables access to specific mailbox information upon request.
EURO GIRO – Connecting You to the World
EURO GIRO is a global electronic funds transfer network connecting postal and financial organizations. It bridges digital and physical transactions, facilitating international remittances and other financial services.
Key Sales
Each rented mailbox comes with a lock and key for secure mail access. Additional keys can be requested by submitting an application and paying the necessary fees.
Postage Prepaid / Bulk Mail Services
Domestic Mail: Posta Uganda delivers parcels, letters, postcards, newspapers, and more within Uganda through its vast Post Office network. This service is reliable and cost-effective, promoting communication across the country. International Mail: Posta Uganda offers dependable and affordable international mail services for sending and receiving items worldwide. This service covers packages, letters, and more, including purchases from online stores like Amazon and eBay. Direct Mail: A marketing tool where businesses send promotional materials to consumers or clients. It is ideal for mass mail campaigns. Bulk Mail: This service caters to clients sending large quantities of mail items. Bulk mail enjoys discounted rates, and postage is calculated based on the total number of items being sent.
Posta Parcel
Posta Parcel allows individuals or organizations to send large packages domestically or internationally, with a maximum parcel weight of 30 kg. For international parcels, the size limits are: – Length: up to 105 cm.- Girth: up to 140 cm (measured around other dimensions). – Cylindrical parcels: 105 cm in length and 140 cm in circumference.
Private Mail Bag
A Private Mail Bag is a secure mail service for businesses or individuals requiring centralized mail delivery. Unlike a P.O. Box, mail is delivered directly to the bag, which is locked and dispatched to the recipient.
School Post
A special mailing service designed for teachers and students. The service uses unique envelopes without postage stamps, facilitating school-to-school correspondence.
Posta Uganda’s Real Estate Portfolio
Posta Uganda manages a diverse real estate portfolio, including land and buildings across Uganda. These properties, located in prime areas, are available for rent by government ministries, NGOs, SMEs, and private companies. Posta Uganda is currently redeveloping its properties to meet modern standards with state-of-the-art facilities.
Stamps and Philately
Postage stamps are used to signify payment for mail services. Clients can buy stamps in bulk for future use. Posta Uganda offers four types of stamps: – Definitive Stamps: Regular stamps used for daily postage. – Commemorative Stamps: Designed to commemorate important events or personalities, often printed in limited quantities. – Thematic Stamps: Issued based on specific themes. – Provisional Stamps: Temporary stamps issued in special circumstances, often with surcharges or overprints. Philately, the study and collection of stamps, is a popular hobby, with some rare stamps being highly valuable.
Virtual Boxes
A Virtual Box Address is an electronic postal address linked to a Post Office of your choice. Unlike physical P.O. Boxes, Virtual Boxes are managed online, providing SMS and email notifications for incoming and outgoing mail. Customers can monitor their mail transactions and use the digital address for online purchases, both domestic and international.
