The Ministry of Education and Sports has announced that the results for the 2025 UgandaAdvanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations will be released on Friday, March 13, 2026. The announcement was confirmed by John Chrysostom Muyingo, the State Minister for Higher Education.
Speaking ahead of the official release, Dr Muyingo stated that the results would be unveiled at 11:00 a.m. during a ceremony organised by the ministry.
“The UACE results will be released on Friday at 11 a.m. by the Ministry of Education,” he said.
The confirmation comes shortly after officials from the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) indicated that they would brief the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, on the overall performance of the 2025 candidates ahead of the official announcement.
During the briefing, UNEB officials are expected to present a comprehensive report detailing how learners performed across the various subjects examined. The report will also highlight the number of candidates who have successfully passed the examinations and are therefore eligible to proceed to universities and other tertiary institutions. In addition, the minister will receive an analysis of performance trends, including comparisons between male and female candidates and performance in different subject areas.
According to figures from UNEB, a total of 166,402 candidates registered for the 2025 UACE examinations. This represents a 14.6 per cent increase in candidature compared with the previous year. The examinations were conducted between November 10 and late November 2025 across 2,844 examination centres throughout the country.
Statistics further show that female candidates constituted a slight majority of those who sat the examinations. Girls accounted for 51.5 per cent of the total candidates, while boys represented 48.5 per cent. Education officials say the continued rise in female participation reflects progress in promoting girls’ education and improving access to secondary schooling.
The release of the UACE results marks the final stage in the publication of the 2025 national examination results. Earlier this year, the ministry released the results for the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) and the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) in February 2026.
Following the release of the PLE results, successful candidates began reporting to secondary schools earlier this month to start Senior One. Meanwhile, students who passed the UCE examinations reported to schools to begin their Senior Five studies shortly after the announcement of their results.
Education authorities emphasise that the UACE results are particularly significant because they determine eligibility for university admission. Under the current admission requirements in Uganda, students who obtain at least two principal passes at A-Level qualify to apply for university programmes. Candidates who do not meet university entry requirements still have opportunities to pursue further education through technical and vocational institutions located across the country.
The official release ceremony is expected to be presided over by Minister Janet Museveni, with several key stakeholders from the education sector in attendance. These include officials from UNEB, representatives from the Ministry of Education and Sports, heads of educational institutions, and development partners involved in the education sector.
Officials from UNEB have noted that the results represent a major milestone for students seeking to advance their academic and professional careers. For many candidates, the outcome will determine their next step, whether pursuing university education, joining tertiary colleges, or enrolling in technical training programmes.
Parents, students, and school administrators have been advised to follow the official announcement closely and to access the results through UNEB’s official result-checking platforms once they are released. The examination body has assured the public that the systems for accessing results will be available immediately after the official release.
With thousands of candidates awaiting their performance, the release of the 2025 UACE results is expected to attract nationwide attention as families, schools, and education stakeholders look forward to assessing this year’s academic outcomes.
