The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, arrived in Beijing, China, on an official visit aimed at strengthening military relations between Uganda and China.
At Beijing airport, he was received by senior generals and defence ministry officials, underscoring the importance China places on its partnership with Uganda.
On Wednesday, General Muhoozi and his delegation toured the China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC), a state-owned defence company specialising in aircraft and aviation technology. The company’s Vice President showcased its latest innovations and advanced equipment to the Ugandan team.
General Muhoozi’s journey also includes attending a military conference with defence chiefs from several countries and holding bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart to discuss areas of mutual interest.
His delegation includes senior Ugandan officers such as Major General Dan Kakono, Commander of the Artillery Division, and Major General Felix Busizoori, Commander of the 4th Division, indicating that the discussions will focus on technical aspects of defence cooperation.
Uganda and China have maintained military ties since 1986, including training Ugandan soldiers, sharing technology, and collaborating on peace support operations in the region.
Since becoming CDF in March 2024, General Muhoozi has actively pursued military diplomacy, visiting Russia, Rwanda, Algeria, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, while also hosting delegations from the United States, United Kingdom, and France.
His visit to Beijing reinforces Uganda’s goal of maintaining strong global defence partnerships, with China remaining one of its most reliable allies in both military and economic affairs.
